FPL: Top Picks For Gameweek 31+

captain picks

With no obvious captain choices for this week, as Man City play Chelsea and, injury doubts loom over Liverpool talisman Mo Salah. It is a great opportunity for FPL Managers to look outside the box for their captain picks, and possibly gain some rank.

Raul Jimenez scored 8 points in Gameweek 30+. Taking 4 shots with 3 of them coming from inside the box, against a poor West Ham side. Jimenez faces another poor defensive side in Bournemouth this week. Bournemouth have been poor at the back throughout the season facing 15.27 shots/game with an xGC(expected goals conceded) of 1.60. Wolves as team are in great form, and Jimenez seems a safe pick for the arm-band this week.

Differentials To Consider

A good differential for the coming weeks can be the catalyst for a top 100k finish. With rotation being prominent several great low ownership players emerged after GW 30+. Top of the pile being the mercurial Riyad Mahrez, owned by only 9.3% of all managers. Mahrez finished the game week with 21 points, scoring twice against Burnley and assisting another against Arsenal. Mahrez has some tougher games coming up against Chelsea and Liverpool, but has shown the ability to score points against Bigger teams in the past.

Another option to consider is Heung-Min Son of Tottenham Hotspurs. Son shone for Spurs in the absence of Kane, scoring 4 times in his previous 3 games before the season hiatus. Son, owned only by 6.8% of Mangers can be a great outlet of points in the coming weeks as Spurs have a favourable run of games coming up. Son averages 3.30 shots/game with an xG of 0.41/game.

Game to Watch out for

Norwich vs Everton has the potential to be a comfortable victory for Everton this week. Norwich have been terrible at the back this season conceding a whopping 15 shots/game with 10 coming from inside the box. Everton on the other hand have steadied their ship since the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti. A strike force of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison has worked well, and has made the team offensively adept, maintaining a xG of 1.52/game which ranks amongst the highest in the League since gameweek 16. With a low owned attack, Everton assets like Richarlison can be a great differential captain for this gameweek. Even lesser considered defensive options like Lucas Digne can present great point-scoring opportunities.
