Bundesliga Matchday-30 Preview

Player of the week

Jadon Sancho the young English superstar, has had some amazing matches this season and his performance in last Matchday is for sure at the top with the others. The Dortmund striker, bagged his first hattrick as a senior professional against Paderborn who were humbled 6-1. This was Sancho’s first start after the restart of Bundesliga and he did not disappoint. Guess a fresh trim did pay off after all! Now, the 20 year old has contributed in 34 goals this season (17 goals & 17 assists) and is going to play a big part for his team, for the remainder of the season as they look to finish at least 2nd this season. He is being praised all around the globe and rightly so. Only time will tell, whether he stays at Dortmund or not, but we should all enjoy his masterclass in the Bundesliga while it lasts.

Game of the week

For me the match of the week is, Wolfsburg against Frankfurt. The game started with Wolfsburg as favourites, after how convincingly they defeated an in form Leverkusen side that too away from home. Frankfurt on the other hand had given away a 3-1 lead in the previous game to see themselves only getting a point. The game started in the way it was expected to as Wolfsburg kept on attacking and were on the front foot. But in the 27th minute, against the run of play Frankfurt were given a penalty which was put away by André Silva. After taking the lead, Frankfurt were able to play their natural game of sitting back and waiting to make a counter attack. Although Wolfsburg were able to equalise through a Mbabu header. But a goal in the 85th minute from Kamada made sure Frankfurt take all 3 points home. The game had it all, a red card, a late goal and most of all perfect implication of tactics.

Matches to look forward to

Next week’s biggest game has to be the league leaders Bayern Munich taking on Bayer Leverkusen, two of the most in form teams at the moment. Bayern Munich, who are considered to be running away with the title once again after defeating their closest rivals Borussia Dortmund past week and taking a 7 point lead at the top, will be facing their toughest test remaining. Bayern although couldn’t be in a better form by winning 16 of their 19 Bundesliga games under their new coach Hansi Flick. Leverkusen on the other hand have their young talent Kai Havertz in top form, and also they would be desperate for wins as to make sure they secure a Champions League spot which is a very tough battle at the moment. Although Leverkusen were able to defeat Bayern in the reverse fixture, I see Bayern Munich having an upper hand in this game considering their recent performances.

Another game to look forward to is between Freiburg and Mönchengladbach, both teams trying to secure the Europa and Champions League spot respectively. Although Mönchengladbach have their strikers, Plea and Thuram in form, I see Freiburg showing some spirit and pulling off an upset. But one thing is for sure, every singe game matters, as the Bundesliga season has reached its business end.
