Fantasy Premier League: Conundrums ahead of the Gameweek 8 Deadline

Who to get- Rudiger/ Azpilicueta?

Antonio Rudiger (5.8M) is still flagged and looks like he will miss the game against Brentford this week. As things look, he could be back for the match against Norwich City next week. Whereas Cesar Azpilicueta (6.1M) is nailed on and fully fit after playing in the nations league final against France. If you are on a wildcard this week then you could go for Azpilicueta instead as he also offers something in the attack as he did against Southampton with 2 assists. It’s a coin toss really between the two, but due to the possibility of attacking returns, Azpilicueta would just edge it for me especially when it looks like Thiago Silva may also miss out as he played in the game against Uruguay.

Who is fit and who misses out?

Trent Alexander Arnold (7.5M) missed the game against Manchester City due to a slight injury problem that could’ve sidelined him for around 3 weeks. But we got an update from Klopp in his press conference saying that both Trent and also Diogo Jota (7.6M) will be fit for the early kickoff on Saturday against Watford.

Raphinha (6.6M) played 71 minutes in the world cup qualifiers against Uruguay. Bielsa said in his press conference that Raphinha may or may not start on Saturday which ultimately depends on if he plays against Uruguay. If he plays or not this weekend is still up in the air so you could either play him and hope he starts or bench him for another player you think could do the job.

Marcus Rashford (9.4M) could feature against Leicester City this weekend although there is no official confirmation from the club yet reports have suggested he could be on the bench at least. If you want a punty differential, Rashford at that price could be a hefty differential and could also spark the United attack and could make it click instantly. Although fixtures are tricky for the red devils he could be a nice differential

Reece James (5.5M) is fit and has trained for the past week and looks pretty much nailed on to start this week with Thiago Silva and Rudiger possibly out. James would start at right wing-back as Azpilicueta would probably play in the right center-back position. As for Romelu Lukaku (11.7M), he was given a rest due to him suffering from muscle fatigue. He returned early and has been training for the past 2 days, so it looks like he will possibly start against Brentford on Saturday.

Is everyone sleeping on Son?

Heung min son (10.1M) has gone very much under the radar due to a lot of other midfield options stepping up and scoring good points. He has a very nice fixture this week against Newcastle who have conceded a lot of goals this season. Although the fixtures from GW9-GW11 don’t seem to be as attractive, from GW12 spurs’ fixtures turn around and they play the likes of Norwich and Leeds who are conceding a whole lot of goals at the moment. With Harry Kane seemingly out of touch at the moment, Heung min son could be the spurs’ talisman and is certainly a player to keep an eye on.

Is Mbeumo/Toney double up viable?

Bryan Mbeumo (5.5M) and Ivan Toney (6.4M) are a deadly duo from Brentford as they are the players Brentford are relying on and they are certainly delivering at this moment in time. Mbeumo and toney are taking a similar number of shots with 17 and 16 respectively. After Chelsea this week they play against the likes of Burnley, Norwich, and Newcastle. So the double-up is not that much of a risk with them being potent enough and are scoring points for their fpl managers.
