Gameweek 31: Assessing Wildcard Options

Game-week 31 is the time when most of the managers will be playing their final wildcard, which could either save their season or do the trick for them till the end of the season. In this article we will be checking out at the options that should be transferred in before the game-week 31.

Mason Mount

Mason is the go-to option in Chelsea in comparison to the other midfielders as he has the highest possibility to play consistently. Mount at 7.1 million has averaged 5.6 points per game in the past 6 game-weeks and has underperformed his expected assists by 2 assists. Mount is playing as a number 10 and is one of those players who impact the team to such an extent by his pressing and calmness in the attacking third of the pitch.

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool seems to be a team that was in great condition after the much-needed international break. Salah was playing like he was getting back to his best as Liverpool’s intensity was on a different level altogether. His positioning has always been an asset for him and his shots per game didn’t reduce over the time they were losing Salah had an xG of 0.7 against Arsenal and looks like must have as his remaining 8 fixtures only include 2 sides from the top half of the table.

Diogo Jota

Diogo Jota has been in phenomenal form since his return back from injury, with his brace against Arsenal and winner against Wolves, bringing valuable points to Liverpool. Diogo Jota has replaced Roberto Firmino’s position in the Liverpool lineup, so the Brazilian is another possible exclusion from the fantasy team. Jota has overperformed his xG by double as he has scored 8 goals but has an xG of only 3.5.

Pedro Neto

A cheap option that could be a replacement for Raphina if you don’t prefer to upgrade him with a high-priced player. As a fourth midfielder, he might be a good punt ahead of games against Fulham, Sheffield United, Burnley, West Brom, and Brighton in the next five weeks. A skillful player with ownership of under 10 percent, he could prove to be a great differential option in the coming weeks.

Harry Kane

Currently the best striker in the premier league and the top scorer in the premier league. He has averaged 8.6 points per game in the last 5 game weeks and also has a double game week 32. His expected goals and assists per 90 minutes are nearly 1.2 and out of the 7 fixtures, Spurs will be playing 4 teams in the bottom half of the table.

Kelechi Iheanacho

A cheap option owned by only 5% of the managers, Iheanacho could prove to be an option that might do wonders for your team. In comparison to other options like Antonio and Bamford, he is much more certain to play and has recorded an xG of 0.5 per game in 9 starts. As Leicester is 3rd in the table and has an opportunity to finish in a champions league spot so he might not drop the players that are most in form.

Nathaniel Phillips

Nathaniel Phillips is priced at 4 million and is only owned by 1.6%, playing regularly as most of the defenders won’t be back any time soon. Liverpool has a good set of fixtures till the end of the season and he could be a cheap way to Liverpool’s defense and could be the best option on the bench.

Cesar Azpilicueta

He is the player out of the defenders who is the most certain to play in comparison to other Chelsea defenders. Tuchel has revolutionized Chelsea’s defense and since he has arrived Chelsea has kept 8 clean sheets. Though Chelsea got embarrassed against West Brom, but I believe that was one-off a game as Chelsea was able to restrict Fc Porto from scoring goals.

Romain Saïss

In the remaining set of 8 fixtures, Wolves will be playing 5 sides from the bottom half of the table. He is priced at 4.9 million and as Wolves has been improving defensively there is a chance that he could be an appropriate option till game-week 36.

Ederson

Though he is priced at 6.1 million, he is the most reliable option out of Manchester City’s defense. He is owned by 9.7% of the managers and is a good option as Manchester City will continue to keep the clean sheets as they have adequate players at the back. The Citizens have kept 17 clean sheets till now and only have to play three teams from the top half of the table. Though City has a blank in game-week 33 but Ederson might be worth keeping till the end of the season if you can keep a playing keeper on the bench.

Fraser Forster

He is the Cheapest option amongst the playing goalkeepers and is one of the best bench players priced at 4 million. Though he is not playing in the blank but as a bench player, he can come on and give you points if by any chance your first-team keeper does not play.
