Trent Alexander Arnold
A price rise to 7.5 million hasn’t put many mangers’ off of Trent as he is owned by a whopping 56.4% of the managers and is the most popular asset in the entire game. As both the Manchester clubs and Burnley (three of the most solid teams in the premier league) blank in the first game-week, Liverpool defenders will be more desirable to pick for the start of the new campaign. Trent was involved in 17 goals and created 17 big chances for Liverpool and had an xA of 10.64. According to me, in Fantasy Premier league Trent plays a vital role as he is the one taking set-pieces for Liverpool.
Matt Doherty
Matt Doherty has been one of Wolverhamptons standouts performers during their recent Premier League stint. Only Alexander-Arnold provides a better value among other FPL defenders than Doherty based on points per million and in two successive seasons the Irishman has delivered more than 10 attacking returns.
With rumors lingering over his move to Spurs, Doherty under Mourinho at right-wing-back would be a great option to consider, as Spurs posed an attacking threat from the right side through Serge Aurier. Spurs have a great chance of keeping clean sheets at the start of the campaign, with favourable fixtures against Southampton, Newcastle and West Ham.
James Justin
Leicester City is one of those teams who kept one of the best defensive records in the league, keeping 13 clean sheets and had conceded 41 goals. James Justin came into the picture when Ricardo Pereira got injured and played further on till the end of the season. James Justin is a good option to consider at 4.5 million as the prices of other teammates have risen and Pereira remains injured. Justin had contributed to only 2 goals for the Foxes but they have a good set of fixtures and have the potential to keep clean sheets.
Ezgjan Alioski
A versatile player like Alioski priced at £4.5m was deployed out of position by Bielsa on several occasions will be worth keeping an eye on. Ezgjan Alioski scored 5 goals and assisted 3 goals for Leeds in the previous campaign, Alioski also had an Xg of 5.99 goals. Alioski underperformed but a player priced at 4.5 million, playing further up the the pitch and owned by only 1.2% of managers, will be an excellent addition to any squad.
Semi Ajayi
One of the best defenders for West Brom and a guaranteed starter, priced at 5 million. Ajayi played in midfield for Rotterdam, prior to his move to the Albion and certainly has the athletic ability Albions’ ageing midfield. West Brom are linked with the signing of Shane Duffy, which makes a move further up the pitch for Ajayi, a little more likely. West Brom tightened up defensively in the final third of last season, registering nine clean sheets in their final 17 fixtures and conceding on just 12 occasions. Ajayi also scored 5 goals, all coming from corners, making him a prominent threat from set pieces. Owned by only 0.6% of all managers, he is a great differential to have in your GW1 squad.
Ruben vinagre
Vinagre is priced at 4.5 million and is a guaranteed starter as Jonny remains injured for the new season. Wolves kept 5 clean sheets in the last 9 games of the season and conceded only 40 goals throughout the season. Vinagre could contribute a few goals for Wolves as wing-backs play a major role, in how they set up. Vinagre is a good cut-price alternative to Doherty and barring the first 2 games, Wolves have very favourable fixtures.
