Bundesliga Matchday 33 Preview

So Bayern Munich have gained an unsinkable lead at the top of the Bundesliga by winning their game against Bremen on Wednesday . So, congratulations to Bayern on clinching 8th successive title after a turbulent first half to the season. But the season review comes later, as the season is far from over and a lot is on the line for many teams and they will be fighting for it till the very end.

Player of the week

The teams at the top had a very hard game week, which saw upsets almost everywhere. But Gladbach managed to earn a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wolfsburg, thanks to the player of the week, Jonas Hoffman. He directed the game from the left flank, and came in clutch when Gladbach needed him to. Although the stats were pretty equal, which only goes to show how clinical Gladbach were in their attack. Hoffmann’s brace gave Gladbach a big boost to push for the Champions League spot, as their other competitors dropped points. Now the final two match days will be very important and you are sure to see Hoffmann playing a vital role in Gladbach’s performances.

Match of the week

My pick for this week is RB Leipzig against Düsseldorf. The match was filled with all the elements for an exciting one, no one gave a chance to relegation battling Düsseldorf. RB Leipzig started the game very strong as they were expected to, but it took them 60 minutes to break the deadlock with the help of an absolute screamer from Kevin Kampl. 3 minutes later, their star striker Timo Werner struck as well and it felt like Düsseldorf’s resilience was to no good once again, just like in their last game against Dortmund. But they had other ideas and scored a 87th minute goal to give them some hope. They left it very very late for an equaliser as they struck it in the 2nd additional minute courtesy of André Hoffmann. RB Leipzig were caught snoozing in the final minutes, which cost them two very vital points and also they failed to capitalise on Dortmund’s loss as well. Now Leipzig are 3rd with a three point lead over 4th places Leverkusen and play Dortmund next. So, it is safe to say that they dropped two very vital points and for Düsseldorf it meant a point towards safety and a push to clinch the relegation playoff spot.

Also the game between Bayern and Bremen was very tightly contested, with Bayern doing almost everything to hold on to their one goal lead over Bremen in the dying minutes.

Match to look forward to

It’s a blockbuster weekend in the Bundesliga, as RB Leipzig takes on Dortmund. Both teams looking for wins to secure their Champions League spot, after Bayern ending the title race this midweek. Both sides have great set of players and there will be many superstars on the pitch. One such superstar is Timo Werner, who is playing his final games in the Leipzig shirt after signing for Chelsea. He would be looking to end his great Leipzig career on a high, and what better way to do it than, against your rivals for the second spot. On the other side is Jadon Sancho, another brilliant young talent who is set to leave Bundesliga as well but where will he go? It’s still a mystery. So both players would like to end their careers at their respective clubs on a high in this fiercely contested match. I feel Dortmund have lost their edge in the last few games and it would be a really tough trip for them to Leipzig.

It sure is going to be a great finish for the Champions League spot, as well as the relegation battle. So do make sure to witness the end of a very exciting Bundesliga season!
